Fiber Optic Access Equipment: GPON & EPON OLT and ONU

FB-LINK is a GPON OLT, EPON OLT and GPON ONU manufacturer supplying complete FTTX equipment for FTTH, FTTB and FTTC networks. This category spans both ends of the passive optical network — the optical line terminals that aggregate traffic in the headend, and the subscriber units that terminate the fiber at each home. The line-up runs from GPON OLTs in 4, 8 and 16-port builds and Ethernet PON terminals for IEEE 802.3ah, through to GPON and dual-mode XPON ONUs, from single-port 1GE units up to 4GE gateways with dual-band WiFi, VoIP, USB and CATV. Every unit ships in stock on FB-LINK firmware, with own-brand labeling for ISPs, regional carriers and integrators. Order single spares, an evaluation starter kit, or container volumes for a national fiber-to-the-home rollout.

GPON OLT and EPON OLT Specs: Bandwidth, Reach, Security

FB-LINK OLTs meet the access-network standards carriers put in their tenders. On the GPON OLT side, downstream runs at 2.5 Gbps and upstream at 1.25 Gbps under ITU-T G.984.x; the EPON OLT side is symmetrical 1.25 Gbps under IEEE 802.3ah. Both reach 20 km over a single fiber with no powered equipment in the field, and one PON port feeds up to 128 subscribers through passive splitters — so a 16-port chassis concentrates a large base into one rack unit. The numbers that decide an RFP are fixed across the range:

Downstream / upstream GPON 2.488G / 1.244G · EPON symmetrical 1.25G
Split ratio per port Up to 1:128 (typically 1:32 or 1:64 in service)
Reach Up to 20 km without signal regeneration
Wavelengths 1490nm down · 1310nm up · 1550nm video overlay
Security & QoS AES encryption, VLAN isolation, ACLs, dynamic bandwidth allocation
Management CLI, web GUI, SNMP and NETCONF
Standards ITU-T G.984.x (GPON) · IEEE 802.3ah / 802.3av (EPON / 10G-EPON)

GPON ONU Models: From 1GE Bridges to Quad-Play Gateways

FB-LINK organizes its GPON ONU range by service tier, not feature count, so each unit maps to a connection profile. Single-port 1GE units cover a basic broadband drop; 4GE gateways with dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi, one or two FXS voice ports, USB and a CATV port handle triple-play and quad-play premises. Two design choices make a real difference on a rollout. First, the dual-mode 1GE XPON ONU auto-detects GPON or EPON, so a single SKU serves a mixed installed base and trims spares. Second, every CATV model rides cable television on the 1550 nm overlay alongside data, letting a cable MSO push video and broadband down one fiber. Optical and management behavior is standards-based throughout: SC/APC connection, receiver sensitivity near -28 dBm, +0.5 to +5 dBm transmit on single-mode G.652/G.657 fiber, with OMCI (ITU-T G.988) and TR-069 driving zero-touch activation.

FB-LINK Optical Portfolio: From FTTX Access to DWDM Core

150GHz 32CH DWDM Mux Demux

The reason to consolidate sourcing is span across the network, not just the access layer. The FB-LINK optical portfolio has shipped transport gear since 2012, and this FTTX line shares a factory with our optical transceivers (1G to 800G), DWDM and CWDM systems, DCI / OTN transport, fiber patch cords and optical switches. In practice the OLT uplink optics, the metro DWDM that backhauls the headend, and the ONU access gear all come from one ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 manufacturer with a single technical contact — fewer suppliers to qualify, one owner of compatibility, and matched lead times from edge to core.

Common pairings: 10G SFP+ for OLT uplinks · 100G QSFP28 for aggregation · DWDM for metro backhaul.

OEM GPON ONU Branding and Private-Label Service

FB-LINK supplies GPON ONU and OLT hardware under your brand, not only its own. OEM branding covers everything your customers and installers see — your logo on the device label and retail box, plus a custom default Web UI, SSID and login on the gateway. For an ISP or distributor that wants own-brand fiber CPE without operating a plant, this is the quickest route to market. Label and artwork files you provide run only on your orders and stay your property; send your brand assets and the target model, and units are built to that spec.

ODM ONU Firmware, VLAN and TR-069 Provisioning

The first question an engineer asks is whether a unit drops into the existing OSS and provisioning chain — which is what ODM work covers. FB-LINK ONUs speak TR-069 (the CPE WAN Management Protocol) and OMCI, so they can ship preloaded with your VLAN profiles, ACS URL and default config and come up zero-touch on first boot. Firmware can be trimmed to lock a feature set, preset QoS and bandwidth profiles, or mirror the management behavior of your installed base, so a new batch behaves like the units already deployed.

MOQ, Free Samples and FTTX Starter Kits

Minimum order quantity tracks how much customization you need, so the two cases are worth separating. Stock units on FB-LINK firmware ship in small counts — handy for spares, a lab trial, or an FTTX starter kit when you are standing up a new build — and free samples go out for evaluation before any volume commitment. Own-brand hardware that needs label, packaging and firmware setup carries a higher minimum than a stock unit, because each custom run is tooled and configured per order. Send the model and projected volume and you will get the exact minimum and unit price in a written quote, not a generic price list.

FTTX Equipment Sourcing: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What separates GPON OLT from EPON OLT, and which fits my network?

A: GPON OLT delivers 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream under ITU-T G.984, with higher bandwidth efficiency and stronger QoS, and dominates Europe and North America. EPON OLT runs symmetrical 1.25 Gbps under IEEE 802.3ah with native Ethernet framing, and is widely used across Asia-Pacific and in enterprise networks. Pick the headend that matches your installed ONUs and the standard your network already runs — FB-LINK builds both GPON and EPON OLTs.

Q: How many subscribers can one PON port serve, and over what distance?

A: A single PON port serves up to 128 subscribers through passive optical splitters, with 1:32 and 1:64 the most common ratios in real deployments. Standard reach is up to 20 km without active components, and some ONU models support extended reach to 40 km. Higher split ratios lower per-port cost but reduce the bandwidth available to each home, so the ratio is chosen to balance density against optical budget.

Q: Will FB-LINK ONUs interoperate with a Huawei or ZTE OLT?

A: FB-LINK GPON ONUs follow the ITU-T G.984 transmission standard and the G.988 OMCI management interface, so standards-based interoperability with compliant OLTs is expected. Because vendors implement OMCI profiles slightly differently, validate behavior against your specific OLT model and firmware before a volume order. We can pre-test units against your target OLT and align the OMCI and VLAN setup.

Q: Can I order GPON ONUs under my own brand and firmware?

A: Yes. OEM branding covers your logo on the label and packaging plus a custom default Web UI and SSID; ODM service covers firmware, preloaded VLAN profiles and TR-069 ACS settings so units self-provision on first boot. The minimum order scales with customization depth — stock GPON ONUs on FB-LINK firmware ship in small counts, starter kits included.

Q: What WiFi, voice and CATV options do the GPON ONU gateways support?

A: FB-LINK GPON ONU gateways range from single-port 1GE units to 4GE models with dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi, one or two FXS ports for VoIP, a USB port, and a CATV RF port that carries cable television on the 1550 nm overlay wavelength. Select a model by service mix: data-only, triple-play voice and data, or quad-play with video.

Q: Is GPON OLT and ONU stock on hand, and do you support deployment?

A: FB-LINK keeps core GPON OLT, EPON OLT and ONU models in stock, with free samples for evaluation. Our engineering team and more than ten regional offices across Southeast Asia and Africa handle on-site deployment, commissioning and remote technical support for telecom operators, cable MSOs and large enterprises.
